The Last Supper
The last Supper is the meal which Jesus had with his Apostles in the Jerusalem. This meal was offered before his Crucifixion. Last Supper is recalled by Christians on Maundy Thursday. The other names for this meal are Holy Communion or Lord Supper. According to the Christian religion the Last Supper mostly took place at the end of the last week. Last Supper was offered to Jesus with his Apostles in the evening during this supper Jesus was betrayed by his own Apostles that’s why this supper is really important when it comes to Easter.
Some Scholars have listed this Last Supper as one of the Christian Traditions. While others see this Last Supperas Eucharistic practice. The last meal that Jesus took has already been described in all four of the Canonical Gospels. Which later on was given the name of Last Supper.The story behind the Last Supper is already been told before the Easter. According to the story Jesus was having dinner with his disciples when he was arrested, took to jail and after that was crucified. According to the predications the Apostle which betrayed him was Peter.
The Last Supper and Eucharist
This leads to what Jesus eat during the dinner. As per believes he had taken bread and also given to his disciples while saying “ Take, eat, this is my body.” After that he ask the disciples to drink red wine which he said is from my blood and when you will drink in you will be in my Father’s kingdom. There were so many books written on this supper and every books shows different predications about theLast Supper. Jesus sharing the bread and offering the wine was later on linked with Isaiah which says it’s a blood sacrifice and it’s method to link with God. Although the Gospel of John doesn’t include the offering of bread and wine.
Apostles of TheLast Supper
According to the bible there were almost 12 apostle who were having dinner with Jesus which was then called the Last Supper. Even a painting was made on this dinner which is showing 12 apostles. This painting was created by Leonardo da Vinci. Following are the names of these apostles.

- Saint Andrew
- Judas Iscariot
- Saint Simon Peter

- Saint Philip

- Saint Jude Thaddeus
- Saint Simon the Zealot
Among all of these Apostles Matthew is mention in Mt 9:9 and Mt 10:3 as the person collecting the taxes. While son of Alphaeus was also mention in Mk 2:14 and Lk 5:27. Who was known as collecting tax from Hebrew people for Herod Antipas.
The Last Supper Message
According to many scholars The last supperis the message of faith given by Jesus that those who will have this will go to heaven with me. That’s why last supper is celebrated with great love and faith. Many Christians tell stories during this dinner to show respect to Jesus.
